Tamada released from hospital

Makoto Tamada, who crashed on July 26th, during the second qualifying session at the Suzuka 8 Hours race, has been released from the hospital today.

Tamada, who suffered fractures on his left clavicle and scapula, his left ankle, and an amputated left middle finger, has been working hard on the rehabilitation program after his successful surgery at a hospital in Tokyo.  The doctor in charge is surprised of his recovery speed, which resulted in a earlier than expected release from the hospital.

Tamada will continue his rehab program at home, and will aim for a comeback at the 4th round of the Asia Road Racing Championship scheduled for the end of this month at Suzuka.

Makoto Tamada, comment

“First of all, I would like to apologize to the team and the sponsors for the inconvenience I have caused.  I want to thank the fans, friends, and my fellow racers for all the kind messages they have sent me for a speedy recovery. Thanks to them, my injuries are healing well.  I want to also thank the doctor and the nurses who took care of me while I was in the hospital.  I will do my best to make myself competitive enough to race at Suzuka this month.”
