Tamada to continue in the Asia

Honda Motors has announced today that Makoto Tamada will continue as rider with MUSASHi Boon Siew Honda Racing in the Supersports 600 class of the Asia Road Racing Championship.  This will be Tamada’s second consecutive year with the team and the Championship.  Machine is Honda CBR600RR. Entry number is #100.  His teammates will be Md Zaqhwan Zaidi and Md Zamri Baba.

Tamada’s tasks for the last season was to defend the series title that Ryuichi Kiyonari achieved in 2012, and further help his teammate, Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman become a series Champion.  Azlan won his first ARRC race in the season opener, and Tamada himself was able to make a double win in Round 3 in India.  However, injury sustained at the Suzuka 8 Hours forced Tamada to withdraw from the title chase.  However, he continued to advise Azlan in his riding and setup skills, as well as race strategy, and contributed to Azlan’s winning the Championship.

This year, Tamada will continue to defend the Championship title for the team, as well as training and supporting young Asian riders.

Comment, Makoto Tamada
“I am happy to be continuing with MUSASHi Boon Siew Honda Racing.  I regret that I had to sit out two races last year due to my injury, and wish that I will have a season with no regrets this year.  I now understand the team well, its good and bad.  I hope to make it a stronger team this year.”
